Casey Crawford

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

A glance at his resume and you may think to Movement’s CEO, Casey Crawford, greatness lies in achievements like NFL Super Bowl champion, founder and CEO of a multibillion dollar mortgage company, and becoming a sought-after media guest whose appearances span CNBC’s Squawk Box, Bloomberg and Fox News with print features in The Wall Street Journal and TIME Magazine.

There's no doubt the 2015 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year is ambitious. But what truly drives him is not a championship ring or reaching the top of the corporate ladder. It’s meeting others’ needs.

As a child, Casey watched his father and grandfather use entrepreneurship as outreach. Whether the need was material, employment, friendship or a good example, he saw how business could be used to meet it.

Following his football days during a stint in real estate, Casey became alarmed by glaring inadequacies within the lending industry. The greed and corruption among leadership, the lack of value and care toward employees, and the inattentiveness toward community problems seemed like wide open opportunities.

Casey’s response? Movement Mortgage, established in 2008 on the Christian values he shares with co-founder Toby Harris. Movement was developed as a hope-filled paradox to a dismal reality, with a mission to be a Movement of Change in our Industry, Corporate Cultures and Communities.

Today, the company employs more than 4,500 and has over 650 locations in all 50 states. In 2017, Movement ranked among the top 10 purchase lenders by financing 1 in every 60 home purchases in the country, totaling more than $13 billion in originations. As prosperity increases, so does the overflow into people’s lives. The non-profit Movement Foundation has invested more than $25 million toward community improvement and meeting the needs of the underserved around the globe.

Casey continues to spread this vision of greatness from Charlotte, N.C. where he lives with his wife, Michelle, and their two daughters.

Toby Harris

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

Movement’s co-founder and EVP, Toby Harris, is a driving force of one of the company’s most important qualities: heart. Having held top positions in mortgage and real estate before Movement, Toby is familiar with the gap in the industry where people – both customers and employees – are concerned. In 2008, he partnered with CEO Casey Crawford to create Movement to fill that gap.

Toby leads with a passion for servant leadership, excellence in customer service and coaching and encouraging leaders as a certified Maxwell coach. Drawing from his military background, it was Toby who established Movement’s standard-shattering processing goals of 6-hour underwriting and 7-day processing by asking seasoned underwriters how quickly a quality loan can be completed, rather than following the laissez-faire approach of most lending institutions.

In Toby’s view, Movement should set such a high standard that employees of any industry are drawn to the workplace culture and the service level so high that competitors are compelled to improve their own. These are the convictions he puts to work each day from Virginia Beach, VA, the place he and his wife call home.

Mike Brennan

PRESIDENT

Mike Brennan is the President of Movement Mortgage. As Movement’s first company president, Brennan leads all sales and operations functions across the organization.

Mike was born and raised in New Jersey and has continued to live there with his wife Marta and their two children, Lauren and Michael. Brennan started his career in construction/real estate and migrated to mortgage banking in 2003 when he became CEO/President of Lancaster Mortgage Bankers. After spending 17 years in the mortgage industry, Mike joined Movement Mortgage in March of 2015 to lead the Northeast region. There, he led unprecedented growth before being promoted to Chief Performance Officer in 2020.

As CPO, Brennan helped lead the company to expand into all fifty states, becoming the sixth-largest retail mortgage lender in the nation. At the end of 2020, due in part to Brennan’s leadership, Movement Mortgage paid a $200 million dividend to its nonprofit Movement Foundation as part of its mission to love and value people by investing in communities.

Along with his financial expertise, Brennan has a strong passion for supporting and participating in mission work throughout Central and South America. He is aligned with International Cooperating Ministries (ICM), the Karis Foundation, John C. Maxwell companies, and more.

John Third

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

John Third was invited by friend and colleague Toby Harris to help launch a mortgage company. In 2008, it seemed like a promising career opportunity. Now, it’s become a calling of far greater significance – making a difference in others’ lives. As COO, John and his team do the groundwork so the company can be a Movement of Change through loving and valuing people.

To do this, John focuses on increasing operational excellence in every area of the company, and though that can mean a lot of charts, stats and projections, it’s ultimately about serving people. Be it creating a better work environment for team members, customer service innovation or building key partnerships across the country, John’s end goal is to improve the lives of everyone the company touches. Including those in places like Uganda and India where Movement’s non-profit is active in outreach.

At home in Charlotte, NC, when he’s not planning the next new operations center or investing in younger leaders, John is often immersed in a home renovation or cheering on the Carolina Panthers.

Laura Bowles

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Laura Bowles is the Chief Financial Officer at Movement Mortgage. As CFO, Laura is responsible for the company's accounting, financial planning and investing activities. She also works with senior leadership on strategic planning and development to forecast and guide the future direction of the company.

Laura came to Movement in early 2014 a seasoned financial professional whose career catalog includes home loans risk management at Bank of America, a CFO for several Wachovia business units and most recently Director and Head of Consumer and Small Business Lending Products at Citibank. Previous roles also include positions at Liz Claiborne, Chase Capital and Merrill Lynch.

Laura holds a BSE from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She lives with her husband and two children in Charlotte, NC, and enjoys working out and making the most of nice weather with family trips to the mountains.

Michelle Donnelly

CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER

Michelle Donnelly joined Movement Mortgage in March 2017 as the company’s first Chief Commercial Officer.

Donnelly brings two decades of corporate leadership experience to the role and works across business functions to help Movement achieve its business objectives, implement commercial strategy and continue to develop as an organization. A graduate of Harvard Business School, Donnelly previously led a progressive, 20-year career at Eli Lilly and Company, one of the leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the world. Within this $21-billion enterprise, Donnelly most recently served as an executive leader within its largest business unit, Lilly Biomedicines. She led a team of more than 200 while overseeing the development of the commercialization strategy for a late-stage pipeline asset.

Donnelly volunteers with Samaritan’s Feet International and the Charlotte Rescue Mission. She resides in Charlotte, N.C., with her husband, Bob, and two sons, Jackson and Griffin.

Chris Shelton

DIVISIONAL SALES LEADER

Chris recruits, coaches, mentors and serves loan officers. His goal is to see LOs grow their business, income and influence through production – he truly believes and is working towards Movement closing 1 out of every 10 loans in the U.S.

Any challenges that cross Chris’ path are addressed head on, and are approached from multiple viewpoints in order to identify opportunities – Chris tries to see every situation from the eyes of our incredible loan officers.

Starting in 2012, Chris came up through the ranks at Movement as an Loan Officer, Market Leader, Regional Director and now a Division Leader. After almost a decade, what gets Chris excited to work at Movement? His answer is “everything.” He loves Movement’s culture, he loves people, and he loves getting up and going to work for our LOs every day.

Kisha Weir

DIVISIONAL SALES LEADER

Kisha spent a decade in the early 2000s as owner and operator of her own home financing business, Mortgage By Design, until she landed at Eagle Home Mortgage, where for over eight years, she concentrated on the Pacific Northwest region.

Kisha joined Movement in 2019 as part of our acquisition of Eagle, our first-ever. Since then, Kisha has helped grow the Pacific Northwest to one of the company's largest and most prosperous regions.

Kisha's commitment to the team empowers them to consistently achieve their personal and professional goals. “I am excited to be with a company that possesses the same integrity and values that I do when it comes to investing in people,” she says. “Movement is all about growth, and I have the honor of training, mentoring and coaching our team daily, and they're growing in leaps and bounds.”

Matt Schoolfield

DIVISIONAL SALES LEADER

With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Matt works to help those around him see what is possible, and empowers them to make it happen.

Matt’s job is to look for leaders; professionals who take responsibility for their relationships, their business, their success and for those around them. He goes on to serve those people so that they can make the difference they were always meant to.

What makes Matt excited to work at Movement is that we’re a company built primarily by employees who see strength in the person beside them, and believe that together they can make a difference.
